Seasons Greetings

« Remote Speakers Output Plug-In 2.1 | Main | New Airport Express model »

Merry X-Mas and a happy New Year to all! Just a couple housekeeping items to notify you about. First, I updated the web site a bit to have a more consistent look, be XHTML 1.1 compliant and best of all to be ad free. The Google ads never panned out quite like I had hoped, so I figured it was better to remove them completely.

Next, winamp.com finally published Remote Speakers output v2.1. It has been quite a journey going from version 1.x to 2.x. And getting winamp.com to accept is another major milestone. So let me just take a moment to say thanks to all those who downloaded version 1.x from winamp.com and a special thanks to the few of you who left reviews. For the most part, feedback has been highly positive. Hopefully this trend will continue with the new version.

Finally, I wanted to let all of you know that work towards version 3.x will begin again on January 1st. The first, and most requested, feature I will be tackling is synchronized output to multiple remote speakers. I'm not sure how long it will take to complete this work, but I just wanted to let all of you who have purchased the unlimited major version upgrade license know that I haven't forgotten you.

See you in the new year!

Hi, great piece of software. I'd like to buy it, only the price is a little steep, considering I already have bought airfoil which does pretty much the same thing. Now, I have a silly question for you. You probably know that most people with an Airport Express use Salling Clicker to control their music libraries remotely. The only thing the Clicker doesn't do is allowing you to choose to which speakers you want to send the audio. I have no idea if this would be possible, but it doesn't hurt asking: do you think you could write a Salling Clicker script that would allow users to interface with your winamp/media monkey plugin from the phone interface? I know it's a bit crazy, writing a plugin for Salling Clicker that would control a Winamp plugin... but if you do this, you close the loop. Now, for that I would pay 25$ without hesitation and I bet many others would too. The only thing better than that would be an Apple remote with screen and ipod-like interface.
Just some thoughts...

Hi Eric,

I stumbled across your software via the MediaMonkey forums and I wanted to say "thanks" for the work, it's definitely a thing of beauty. I don't usually leave comments but I was dismayed by the lack of feedback you've gotten, and you really do deserve congratulations! I'll be buying the 'unlimited upgrades' version for sure.

Thank goodness I've found this plugin, what a quality-of-life enhancer. I'm looking forward to future releases. By the way, I discovered your work via the MediaMonkey forums as that's the player I use...with 150,000+ mp3's, it's the only practical solution. I hope that at some point in the future, your comment about suspending work on compatibility with future players notwithstanding, you consider developing integration with MM further! Thanks again!

Hey Eric - I'm looking forward to synchronized playback in v3! I have three Airport Express devices (one for each level of my house: basement, 1st & 2nd floor) and would love to stream from WinAmp to all three of them for whole house audio.

How's the v3 development coming along??
