Remote Speakers Output Plug-In 4.0b1

« Remote Speakers Output Plug-In 3.1 | Main | Remote Speakers Output Plug-In 4.0b2 »

I have been working over the spring and summer to add AirPlay features to Remote Speakers output and I am happy to announce the first beta to demonstrate the new functionality. This new version should have support for the AirPort Express, Apple TV 1 and 2, Denon AVRs, Pioneer VSXs, ShairPort, ShairPort4w and many other AirPlay-compatible devices and programs. Playback to multiple devices should be synchronized, finally.

Download link: Remote Speakers output v4.0b1active until October 31st.

If you do run into any problems, you should be able to run Sysinternals DebugView to capture the debug output produced by the plug-in. This may be very helpful in finding the root cause of the issue.

As always, plaese let me know your experiences with the new version – good or bad. And happy streaming!

So far so good ! No bug so far. Synced playback on an Airport and Shairport4w from Winamp, it is working, with slight time shift however (iTunes is perfectly synced). Still waiting for WMP12 support ;) Does it send also ID3 and jacket information to compatible devices ?

Thanks so much for your feedback. ShairPort does not fully implement the synching algorithm, so there will be a bit of difference when using it. Thanks for mentioning WMP12. I have a WMP9 through 10 or 11 plug-in. I just need to make some adjustments to get it working with 11. I'll make sure and find some time for that before releasing 4.0.

As far as the tags and cover art, I have not yet worked out that protocol, so no for now. I'm hoping to get that stuff working, but I don't know if it will make the v4 cut.

Thank you for that great plugin!! Tested it with a pioneer vsx-921 and mediamonkey and it works damn good.
When I start mediamonkey and than a track, the vsx starts automatically and plays the song. The gap between songs is ok, not disturbing.
At TV or vsx-display I can only read "AirPlay", not a cover, songtitle or song-lenght. It's not so important but a desireable feature for later versions. Also an integrated Button in the context-menue of mediamonkey would be cool.
Nevertheless this is great work!

(hope my English is bearable)

Thank you for the plugin! I use it a lot (MM3 and now MM4 RC) and is worth the money.

One question: I have two output possibilities on my laptop (Realtek chip): internal speakers or digital (SPDIF). I don't have physical connections to my SPDIF.

Sometimes I have the impression that the sound is better (especially in MM3 and less sure for MM4) when I select the digital output (Windows7 sound icon or via the Realtek Sound manager) in stead of te internal speakers. Is this difference in sound quality possible or do you think I 'suffer' of some auditory placebo effect?

Thanks

Hmm... this expired Oct 31. Is there an updated 4.x beta with sync?

Hey

I would like to test RSO plugin but i have a "active until October 31st." problem.Do you have a real release ready soon or could you create a version not expiring in the past?

I have tried to use RSO3 with MM4 without success - is it just me or????

/Claus
