Remote Speakers Output Plug-In 2.2

« New Airport Express model | Main | November News »

As promised, here is the new release of the Remote Speakers Output Plug-In with support for the new AirPort Express with 802.11n base stations. I have tested the new base station with the plug-in for everyday playback, password-protection and remote control. If anyone runs into any situations that do not seem to be behaving, let me know.

Unfortunately, Apple TV support will have to wait a bit longer. I still haven't gotten a hold of a unit and I'm unsure whether that will go into a 2.3 or a 3.0 release. Stay tuned for more details.

Hi,

I have a airport express with 802.11n support.
I installed the plugin and it work great, but my somehow the plugin lists my airport express remote speakers twice.

Is this expected behaviour?

Cheers,
Peter

Hi
You made a great plugin! I use it with mediamonkey. I would like to use it with gomplayer. Is it possible?

Hello Eric!

Your approach of distributing audio via direct streamin to an airport express is very elegant. I did a lot of experiments with shoutcast and a squeezebox wich didnĀ“t satisfy me at all.

What i dislike with the airport is the limitation to 16BIT. Thats the reason for me chosing the Squeezebox as a player-device.

Currently i have installed a wave_input plugin to the Squeezebox to have a quicker response than with a shoutcast stream.

This is "samplng" the signal from a Windows recording device wich leads to a reduced sound quality.

Did you eventually aready spend some thinkung on integrating other devices to your plugin like f.e. the squeezebox?

Greetings

Arne

Ever since the latest version of iTunes came out I haven't been able to get the Remote Speakers Output plugin to work. I can use the remote speakers from iTunes, but not from WinAmp or MediaMonkey. Any idea what's up? Checking the AirPort Express logs, it looks like it's refusing the connection for some reason when it's coming from the plugin.
