Remote Speakers Output Plug-In 3.0b7

« Note on Bonjour 2.0 compatibility | Main | Remote Speakers Output Plug-In 3.0 »

New beta version released. Sorry for the long delay since the last release — getting married in early October...

Bonjour 2.0.2 (included) is supported but hasn't been tested too thoroughly yet. Won't crash if Bonjour is installed but the service is not running. Added error message for network error during streaming. Added some player integration tweaks (dialog fonts match player's, most dialog boxes center over parent dialog/window and a couple other minor changes).

Download link: Remote Speakers output v3.0b7active until September 30th.

Please let me know if you run into any issues with it — including any issues previously reported that are still present.

Hmm, I had an expired version of v2.5 still installed (just recently found your plug-in and was waiting on 3 to register), and now no matter what I do, I just get "Expiration date reached!" when I open Media Monkey.
I've uninstalled 2.5 with the uninstaller and recopied the new files to the proper directories, but still no luck.
Any advice on how to get v3.0b7 running?

Thanks for your great plug-in! Can't wait to cut the ties to iTunes! :)

Sorry for the troubles with the demo period. That's not supposed to happen, but I must not have set something up right. There is a way to reset the beta; it's a bit technical. Send me an email and I can send you the directions.

Hello !
Just wanted to ask if you heard that Apple has upgraded his protocol. They name it "AirPlay" and the API should now be available. Some manufacturers like Marantz already released Airplay compatible sound systems.

I still would love to see a plugin for WMP12 to permit to use and Airport or Airplay system as media extender. I think you would become famous if you could do it ;)

I hope you have not given up. If you need few euros for support I think people including me would be glad to help.

Hi Kally,

Thanks for the comment. I definitely want Remote Speakers output to be part of the AirPlay ecosystem -- in fact, it already is a part. Apple could not have changed the API between the AirPort Expresses and iTunes, since there is no firmware update required to enable AirPlay. So, Remote Speakers output v2.5 should be on the same level as iTunes for Expresses. As for Apple TVs and other 3rd party devices, I definitely want to support output on them. I am trying to get v3 shipped out by the end of the year. After that, support for Apple TV, Airfoil Speakers and other devices like the ones you mention are the main focus for v4.

Thanks so much for your interest and support. These are exciting times!

Cheers,
Eric
